Upgrading costs an additional one-time USD amount (currently $600 for the Garage, $16,000 for the Warehouse, $375,000 for the Farm) and requires the previous tier (no skipping).
The upgrade isn’t instant: it occupies a worker and currently takes 6 hours (Garage), 36 hours (Warehouse) or 60 hours (Farm). The new tier only applies once the upgrade is finished.
Infrastructure Upgrades (facility-wide)
- Cooling Tower — lowers the temperature of your whole farm by about 3.6 °C per level (up to level 5)
- Power Substation — raises your facility’s power capacity by 25% per level (up to level 6)
- Rack Shelving — +4 slots per level (up to level 4, so +16 slots at most)
- Solar Array — up to −8% power costs per level (up to level 10)
Infrastructure upgrades also occupy a worker. Each level costs more than the previous one — the price is the base price multiplied by the level you are upgrading to (current base prices: Cooling Tower $9,000, Power Substation $9,000, Rack Shelving $15,000, Solar Array $8,000). Level 1 currently takes 2 hours, and every further level takes twice as long (at least 1 hour, at most 7 days).
Power Capacity (grid)
Every facility tier has a maximum power capacity: about 1.6 kW at Home, 6 kW in the Garage, 40 kW in the Warehouse and 260 kW on the Farm. Each Power Substation level raises this value by 25%.
If your farm draws more power than the grid can deliver, it is overloaded: your miners get throttled and produce less BTC until you switch miners off or upgrade the substation. This only affects your yield — your hashrate figures and unlocks stay the same. A Warehouse full of miners, rack shelving beyond 12 slots, overclocking and big farms therefore all need the substation.
