Miner Upgrades
Available Upgrades (per device)
- Air Cooling+ / Liquid Cooling — lower temperature (liquid cooling requires full air cooling first)
- Platinum PSU / Custom Firmware — lower power draw, slightly raise hashrate (firmware requires the full PSU upgrade first)
- Overclock — raises hashrate, but also heat, power draw and wear
Tiers and Base Prices
| Upgrade | Max tiers | Base price |
|---|---|---|
| Air Cooling+ | 3 | $180 |
| Liquid Cooling | 2 | $1,200 |
| Platinum PSU | 3 | $350 |
| Custom Firmware | 2 | $900 |
| Overclock | 3 | $500 |
The actual price depends on the value of your miner: powerful, expensive miners cost correspondingly more to upgrade, and each further tier costs more than the previous one. During a Hardware Shortage, upgrade prices rise by 35% too. The exact effect of each tier is explained in Hashrate & Mining Yield and Temperature & Wear.
Timed Upgrades
Upgrades take time and are carried out by a worker. While the work is underway, the miner in question is offline and doesn’t produce anything. Once the upgrade is complete, the miner must be manually restarted.
Each additional tier increases the time required. The specific miner model can also affect how long the upgrade takes. With HashCoins you can finish an ongoing upgrade instantly — see the Premium Shop for details.
